WHAT: THE WIZARD ROCKUMENTARY PREMIERE
WHERE: The Garland Theatre
WHEN: 11:59 pm, Friday, April 11th

SPOKANE, WA. (March 11, 2008)—Two years ago twin sisters Mallory and Megan Schuyler began traveling the country to document wizard rock — music inspired by Harry Potter. The result is the feature film “The Wizard Rockumentary: A Movie About Rocking and Rowling,” which will premiere on Friday, April 11th, at midnight at the Garland Theatre. The movie documents the development of the fan music genre, the musicians’ goals to promote literacy and music among young people, and the emotions within the fandom during the year leading up to the final book release.

Twenty percent of ticket sales will be donated to Page Ahead, a non-profit literacy organization that collects new children’s books to distribute to local low-income families. There will also be an on-site book drive for Page Ahead and books will be available to purchase and donate, provided by the Tinman Gallery. Admission buttons for the Midnight Premiere will be $5, available at the Garland Theatre. A free, family friendly daylight showing will follow on Saturday at the downtown branch of the Spokane Public Library at 3:00pm, preceded by wizard rock performances by both Marked As His Equal and Hogwarts Trainwreck. The documentary will be screening at film festivals and Harry Potter symposiums this summer, and has already been featured on MTV, Much Music, and in the Washington Post.

Megan Schuyler is a producer and editor for the non-fiction division of North By Northwest, a Spokane-based production company. Mallory Schuyler is an aspiring author and the book manager for the Tinman Gallery on Garland. They both graduated from Washington State University in 2005.
